MISSION FOR THE COMMUNITY

Our mission is to provide a low cost technical and operational infrastructure for buy local initiatives that strengthen local business and contribute to local schools and causes to support sustainable communities across the nation. We learned a lot from business leaders in our communities. Both the Lazarus family - the founders of what is now Macy's, and the Dayton family - the founders of what is now Target had a common philosophy which we follow: What is good for the community is good for all businesses that operate within it.

SCHOOLS AND CAUSES KEEP 100% OF MONEY RAISED

All of our fundraising programs keep the money local and minimize program expense. For example, our Offers+Donations program enables schools and causes to keep 100% of the money they earn. It's free to participate and there are no hidden fees; join today. We estimate that this program can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in each community and over $1 billion nationally.

A SUSTAINALBLE RESOURCE TO PROMOTE YOUR COMMUNITY

Historically, a community embraces a BUY LOCAL initiative and then launches a costly and time consumptive effort to "reinvent the wheel." The Institute for Local Self-Reliance has recognized the need to provide guidance on how to build local business alliances that often underpin more successful outcomes. Likewise, we built a multi-channel marketing service - a "wheel" that all communities can use that saves them time and cost - so that they can focus their energies on building alliances and promoting their buy local message. This service can be customized to fit the personality of the community. All of your personalized messaging, offers, event promotions, etc., are also reviewed by a team of marketing experts to help each community be successful in developing a sustainable program.

 

MUTUAL AND INCLUSIVE

In the spirit of inclusivity, we support all brick and mortar businesses in each community. That includes both the business "in town" as well as those who operate the local farms, co-op, manufacturers, artisans, and other businesses who serve the community. It's how people shop. All participants get promoted to provide the best opportunity to satisfy consumer needs and keep the spending in the community.

 

COMMON GROUND - COMMON FOCUS

Our goal is simple: keep the money local to strengthen the economy of the community. Consumers are concerned with price, selection, service, among other things. Consumers demand convenience. Let's help them find the things that they want or need right in their community. Besides keeping the dollars local, buying locally reduces fuel emissions, maximizes the use of local real estate, and preserves the character and charm of the community.
